Biography | I am Executive Editor at Amherst College Press, a new Open Access digital press located within the Amherst College Library. Previously, I was Senior Acquisitions Editor at The MIT Press where I acquired scholarly, trade, and reference work in Science and Technology Studies, Information Science, Communications, and Internet Studies. I created critically acclaimed series such as those in Infrastructures Studies, The Information Society, and History and Foundations of Information Science. I also developed the Essential Knowledge Series, trade books designed to convey challenging concepts to a more popular readership; such topics have included Intellectual Property Strategy (by John Palfrey), Memes in Digital Culture (by Limor Shifman),Crowdsourcing (by Daren Brabham), and Open Access (by Peter Suber). I have long been an advocate for the evolving digital publication, and I developed several pilot projects pushing the envelope on content as well as with Open Access experiments. I believe scholarly publishing needs standards for publishing enhanced digital content, as well as standard formats to aid in the acceptance, adjudication, and increased circulation of what is the future of content. |
