forcetimeline

This year marks the 15th anniversary of FORCE11 and fifteen years of bringing together a global community dedicated to improving scholarly communication, research practices, and knowledge sharing.

What began in 2011 as a gathering of researchers, librarians, publishers, technologists, funders, and infrastructure providers has grown into a worldwide movement advancing a more open, transparent, accessible, and connected research ecosystem.

To celebrate this milestone, we are proud to share a timeline highlighting the milestones, collaborations, and community achievements that have shaped FORCE11’s journey from 2011 to today.

You can also view the full timeline here and you can Vote on FORCE11’s Community Achievements that most shaped scholarly communications over the past 15 years.

Most importantly, this anniversary is about the people. Thousands of community members have contributed their time, expertise, and passion to building a more equitable and effective research ecosystem.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the FORCE11 story. We look forward to continuing this work together, convening diverse stakeholders, creating welcoming spaces for collaboration, incubating ideas and working groups, building consensus around emerging practices, and helping community-developed principles and recommendations gain global visibility and adoption
