Data review: the overlap between data management planning, technical review and curation, and article review

There is a growing understanding of the importance of data sharing across scholarly scientific research but many unanswered questions about how to share, review and publish datasets across the full data lifecycle. To promote best practice and avoid conflicting requirements or duplication of effort, a core group of researchers, funders, institutions, repositories and publishers convened a workshop to consider three fundamental themes: 1) Connecting data review with data management planning before, during and after completion of a research study; 2) Connecting scientific, technical review and curation to enable any resultant data publication; and 3) The guidelines, tools and resources required to connect data review with article review. Here we present our initial recommendations for feedback.
