Why publishers should publish an XML file and nothing else

Name: 2013 Beyond the PDF2

The multitude of document formats (PDF, html, ePub) and reading devices (tablets, phones, Daisy reader, etc) has forced publishers to divert resources to IT, in order to keep up with technology, sometimes at the expense of the quality of content. I will show that there is an alternative, in that if publishers produce a good XML file, which would be the definitive version of record, then all other formats can be created automatically, and on the fly, from the XML. I will give a live demo showing a multitude of formats created from one XML file. I gave a recent demo of this too.
